About Company:
Regolith perfects equipment delivery, management, and maintenance for global operations teams that need to equip employees in the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.
Job Description:
Regolith is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant & Compliance Specialist to serve as our primary authority on statutory integrity and tax advisory. In this role, you will bridge the gap between financial reporting and regulatory adherence, ensuring that the company’s tax obligations are met with precision.
As a "Tax Advocate," you will be the face of the organization during interactions with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and various State Internal Revenue Services (SIRS). While this is a remote position, it requires the agility to conduct physical visits for reconciliations and dispute resolutions. If you have 2–5 years of experience and a mastery of the Nigerian Finance Act, we want you on our team.
Requirements:
1. Statutory Compliance & Remittance
Returns Management: Prepare, review, and ensure the timely filing of all statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, and WHT, to avoid penalties and interest.
Record Integrity: Maintain a rigorous digital and physical tax ledger, ensuring all receipts, clearance certificates (TCCs), and payment acknowledgments are organized for easy retrieval.
Audit Readiness: Keep the company’s books "inspection-ready" at all times, providing high-level support during regulatory reviews.
2. Regulatory Liaison & Dispute Resolution
Agency Representation: Act as the direct point of contact for the FIRS and state agencies, handling all correspondence and physical visits for tax queries or compliance notices.
Objection & Reconciliation: Lead the process of filing objections to over-assessments, performing complex reconciliations to resolve tax disputes in favor of the organization.
Strategic Advisory: Provide internal counsel on tax planning and risk mitigation, ensuring management is aware of the implications of new fiscal policies or amendments to the Finance Act.
3. Financial Analysis & Ethical Conduct
Analytical Problem Solving: Identify potential tax leakages and recommend strategies for efficient tax positioning.
Confidentiality: Maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct, handling sensitive financial data with total discretion.
Independent Execution: Thrive in a remote setting by managing deadlines and schedules with minimal supervision.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2 – 5 years of hands-on experience in tax advisory and compliance.
Certification: Professional certification (ICAN/ACCA) or being in the advanced stages of the exams is highly preferred.
Gender Focus: Females are strongly encouraged to apply.
Core Competencies
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and FIRS administrative procedures.
Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate complex tax matters to both tax officials and non-finance management.
Technical IQ: Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel for tax modeling and reconciliation.
