Job Description:

The Instrumentation Manager at Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, Numan Operation, will be responsible for managing all aspects of instrumentation systems to ensure seamless and efficient plant operations. This includes the design, installation, development, and maintenance of instrumentation systems tailored to meet operational demands while adhering to industry best practices. The role ensures minimal downtime and optimal functionality of instrumentation within the facility.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of all instrumentation equipment by implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all equipment under the instrumentation section to meet targeted power generation levels through timely corrective actions.

  • Monitor and document equipment failures, maintain history records, and ensure proper follow-up on maintenance activities.

  • Plan and execute tasks assigned by the operations team to support smooth section operations.

  • Report any instrumentation or DCS-related issues to the Factory Manager.

  • Maintain availability of backup equipment at all times and manage critical spare parts inventory.

  • Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed during operations and maintenance.

  • Collaborate with the process department, Sugar Mill, and Factory Shift Engineers to ensure coordinated and efficient operations.

  • Oversee maintenance and servicing of electrical instrumentation during off-crop periods.

  • Prepare annual budgets for the instrumentation section, monitor expenditures, and implement effective cost-control measures.

  • Identify team training needs and schedule regular capacity-building programs.

  • Uphold and enforce safety standards in all instrumentation operations and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of a B.Tech, B.Eng., or B.Sc. in Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Professional certification such as COREN, NSE, or equivalent is an added advantage.

  • 15–20 years of relevant experience in a power plant environment with DCS automation systems; prior experience in a sugarcane processing facility is highly desirable.

  • Strong expertise in troubleshooting DCS systems, instrumentation, and flow measurement devices.

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage people effectively.

  • Good understanding of labor laws and workplace compliance.

  • Basic financial literacy and budget management skills.

  • Strong negotiation and presentation capabilities.
