Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Internal Auditor to join our team in Surulere. This role is designed for a professional who can serve as an objective guardian of our corporate integrity. You will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of our internal controls, managing risk, and ensuring that our governance systems are robust and compliant.

The ideal candidate possesses the "auditor’s eye" the ability to look past the surface of financial statements to identify underlying risks, promote ethical conduct, and provide independent advice that drives organizational validity.

Requirements:

Risk Management & Control Assessment

• Core Auditing: Evaluate and assess risk management activities and internal controls across all departments to ensure the company’s assets are protected.

• Financial Scrutiny: Thoroughly examine financial statements, expense reports, inventory, and accounting practices to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies.

• Compliance: Determine the organization’s level of adherence to relevant national laws, industry regulations, and internal guidelines.

Fraud Deterrence & Investigation

• Fraud Assessment: Investigate potential fraud using risk assessment frameworks and established fraud deterrence principles.

• Ethics Promotion: Actively promote ethical standards and identify improper conduct within the company to maintain a culture of transparency.

Strategic Planning & Reporting

• Audit Planning: Identify the audit scope and develop comprehensive annual plans that align with the organization’s goals.

• Data Analysis: Gather and analyze accounting documentation, flowcharts, and data to present clear, actionable findings to management.

• Follow-up: Monitor management interventions post-audit to ensure that recommended improvements have been effectively implemented.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related analytical field.

• Experience:

  • 2–4 years of proven work experience in accounting or an analytical auditing role.

  • Demonstrable supervisory experience is required.

• Technical Proficiency:

  • Expertise in Tally or other modern accounting software.

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (specifically Excel for data verification).

• Core Competencies:

  • Mathematical Accuracy: Excellent skills in verifying entries and financial data with high precision.

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to gather complex data and make informed, objective decisions.

  • Independent Advice: Ability to offer objective, independent counsel to help the organization reach its legality and validity goals.

• Geographic Requirement: Candidates must reside within or near Surulere, Lagos to ensure operational efficiency.
