Job Description:

• We are seeking a meticulous Settlement and Chargeback Specialist to join our Operations team. Based in Lagos, Nigeria,
• This role is responsible for ensuring accurate transaction settlement and the timely, compliant resolution of chargebacks and disputes across our card and switching operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile daily settlement files between GlobalPay/Terraswitch, banks, and card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, Verve).
• Investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies, failed transactions, and suspense account items.
• Manage the end-to-end chargeback lifecycle, from receipt through representment and resolution.
• Liaise with acquiring/issuing banks and card scheme representatives on dispute cases.
• Track chargeback and fraud trends, and escalate emerging risk patterns to Risk and Compliance.
• Maintain accurate settlement and chargeback logs, and prepare periodic reconciliation reports.
• Ensure adherence to card scheme rules, timelines, and evidentiary requirements for dispute resolution.
• Support merchants and internal teams with settlement and chargeback status inquiries

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in settlement, reconciliation, or chargeback/dispute management within a bank, switch, or fintech.
• Working knowledge of Visa/Mastercard chargeback and dispute rules is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Required Skills & Technologies:

• Payments Knowledge: Card scheme settlement and chargeback rules (Visa, Mastercard, Verve)
• Reconciliation: Transaction and settlement account reconciliation
• Tools: Switching/processing platforms, MS Excel, dispute management systems
• Analytical Skills: Attention to detail and root-cause investigation
• Regulatory Awareness: CBN guidelines on dispute resolution and settlement finality.

Collaboration & Work Practices:

• Work closely with Finance on settlement account reconciliation and reporting.
• Partner with Customer Success on merchant and cardholder dispute inquiries.
• Coordinate with Risk and Compliance on fraud-related chargeback patterns.
• Liaise directly with partner banks and card schemes on escalated cases
