Job Description:

We are seeking a technically profound and strategically agile Head of Payments Operations to anchor the core engine of Duplo’s financial infrastructure. In the African fintech landscape, operational excellence is defined by "Success Rate Optimization", the ability to maintain 24/7 uptime across fragmented banking networks and diverse payment rails. This role is designed for a "Payment Architect", a professional with over 7 years of experience who can blend deep regulatory knowledge with the technical grit required to manage complex settlement, routing, and reconciliation processes at scale.

Your mission is to ensure "Zero-Fail Transactional Velocity and Multi-Bilateral Compliance." You will be the primary steward of our payment ecosystem: responsible for building 24x7 monitoring mechanisms, negotiating high-value partnerships with financial institutions, and partnering with Engineering to deploy cross-border capabilities. If you possess an "Analytical Mindset," a proven track record in fraud mitigation, and the leadership presence to navigate complex regulatory frameworks, we want you to lead our operational expansion.

Requirements:

1. High-Velocity Payment Architecture & Monitoring

• Success Rate Optimization: Establish 24x7 monitoring mechanisms to track payment success rates across banks and merchants, driving continuous improvement through operational engineering.

• SOP Governance: Develop and deploy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for regional payment operations, ensuring transactional consistency as Duplo expands into new geographies.

• Incident Response: Lead the identification and resolution of systemic issues within payment gateways and processing systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal latency.

2. Strategic Partnerships & Commercial Negotiation

• Ecosystem Management: Identify and manage strategic relationships with Tier-1 banks, payment processors, and key vendors, ensuring all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are rigorously met.

• Contractual Engineering: Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with service providers to optimize processing costs and enhance Duplo’s competitive margin.

• Product-Engineering Synergy: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to integrate new payment products, expand routing capabilities, and scale functionalities across borders.

3. Risk Governance & Regulatory Compliance

• Regulatory Stewardship: Ensure all payment operations align with AML/KYC, data protection (NDPR/GDPR), and regional financial regulations.

• Fraud Mitigation: Work in lockstep with the Compliance team to monitor, detect, and mitigate transactional risks and fraudulent activities.

• Audit & Integrity: Conduct regular, rigorous audits of payment processes and settlement systems to identify vulnerabilities and drive process hardening.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.

• Experience: Minimum of 7 years in payment operations, fintech, or financial services, with a proven history of leading high-performance teams.

• Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of Payment Routing, Settlement Processes, and Automated Reconciliation.
