Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Finance & Compliance Manager to lead our financial planning, budgeting, and statutory functions. In this strategic role, you will be the primary custodian of OHRI’s financial integrity, ensuring that we not only meet but exceed the rigorous standards set by donors, regulatory bodies, and international best practices in stewardship. You will lead a dedicated team to safeguard organizational assets and ensure that every naira spent contributes directly to our mission in Adamawa and beyond.
The ideal candidate is a chartered accountant with a deep background in NGO grant management and a passion for building robust, fraud-proof financial systems in a development context.
Requirements:
Strategic Financial Leadership
Policy Architecture: Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to streamline operations.
Financial Planning: Lead the annual budgeting process, cash flow forecasting, and long-term financial planning to ensure organizational sustainability.
Expenditure Control: Supervise the finance team, review payment vouchers, and authorize expenditures within delegated limits, ensuring all spending aligns with approved work plans.
Compliance & Audit Management
Grant Stewardship: Ensure 100% compliance with donor grant conditions and reporting requirements, maintaining meticulous records for high-stakes projects.
Statutory Compliance: Manage all legal financial obligations, including CAC requirements, tax filings (WHT, PAYE, etc.), and other Nigerian regulatory mandates.
Audit Oversight: Lead both internal and external organizational audits, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors and ensuring the timely implementation of all audit recommendations.
Risk Management & Asset Protection
Fraud Prevention: Safeguard organizational assets by maintaining robust control systems and promoting a culture of transparency and ethical conduct.
Reporting Excellence: Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the Board of Directors, donors, and relevant government authorities.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Certification: Mandatory or highly preferred certification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CMA).
Experience:
4+ years of experience in NGO financial management, specifically including donor grant accounting.
Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and nonprofit compliance landscapes.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for complex financial modeling and data analysis.
Core Competencies:

Leadership: Proven ability to manage multicultural teams and collaborate across departments.
Communication: Elite written and verbal English skills; proficiency in Hausa or local Adamawa languages is a significant asset.
