Job Description:

We are seeking a persistent, organized, and persuasive Collections Officer to play a critical role in minimizing company losses by managing outstanding overdrafts. In this position, you will be the primary point of contact for clients with overdue accounts, tasked with the delicate balance of maintaining customer relationships while aggressively pursuing the recovery of funds. You will need to be a skilled negotiator, a methodical record-keeper, and a firm advocate for the company’s financial health.

Requirements:

  • Debt Recovery Strategy: Review debtor lists daily to identify and prioritize accounts for collection.

  • Client Communication: Contact customers proactively to inform them of overdue bills, explain payment options, and resolve queries regarding their accounts.

  • Negotiation & Planning: Design and negotiate customized payment plans that encourage debt settlement while staying within organizational guidelines.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all communications and payments. Prepare accurate financial statements for management and external authorities (banks/credit departments).

  • Escalation Management: Issue final notice warnings when necessary and coordinate with legal counsel and insurance agencies to facilitate recovery when voluntary payments fail.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: ND, HND, or B.Sc. in Accounting, Business Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Collections Officer is highly desired.

  • Key Competencies:

    • Negotiation Mastery: Ability to remain professional while firmly pursuing overdue payments.

    • Financial Literacy: Solid knowledge of payment structures, accounting procedures, and debt collection laws.

    • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; the ability to draft formal final warnings and conduct difficult phone conversations with composure.

    • Resilience: High level of patience and the ability to maintain performance in a high-pressure, target-driven environment.

    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in office and accounting software.

  • Demographic Preference: Age range: 20–35 years.

Salary

N80,000 (Basic) + N20,000 (KPI-based)
