Job Description:
We are seeking a trustworthy, organized, and customer-friendly Cashier to manage financial transactions within our canteen services unit. In this role, you will be the final point of contact for our customers, responsible for ensuring that every transaction is processed with 100% accuracy and professional courtesy. The successful candidate must demonstrate high integrity, numerical precision, and the ability to remain calm and efficient during peak "rush" hours.
Requirements:
Financial Transactions & Cash Handling
Payment Processing: Receive and process customer payments accurately using cash registers and POS systems.
Daily Reconciliation: Balance the cash register and reconcile all transactions at the end of each shift to ensure zero discrepancies.
Safekeeping: Ensure the proper handling and absolute safekeeping of cash, receipts, and other payment instruments.
Documentation: Issue receipts and maintain detailed records of daily sales transactions.
Operational Support & Inventory
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial and inventory records as required by the management team.
Stock Monitoring: Assist in monitoring canteen stock levels and promptly report any shortages to ensure continuous service.
Canteen Flow: Support the smooth daily operation of the canteen, assisting in other areas as directed by management during off-peak times.
Customer Service
Professional Conduct: Attend to all customers courteously and professionally, ensuring a positive dining experience.
Inquiry Management: Address basic customer inquiries regarding pricing or menu availability at the point of sale.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Qualification: Minimum of SSCE or OND in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 1–2 years of cashiering experience, preferably in a canteen, restaurant, or fast-paced retail environment.
Location: Must reside in Warri, Delta State or its environs. Please note that accommodation is not provided.
Technical & Professional Skills
Numerical Accuracy: Exceptional ability to handle figures and maintain error-free records.
POS Proficiency: Proven ability to operate Point of Sale (POS) machines and basic accounting tools.
Communication: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
