Job Description:

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Department. In this role, you will be the backbone of our day-to-day financial operations, ensuring that our records are precise, our accounts are reconciled, and our compliance standards are consistently met.

The ideal candidate is a numbers-driven professional who is comfortable managing accounts payable/receivable, supporting tax filings, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. Requirements:

Financial Operations & Ledger Maintenance

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records and assist in the maintenance of the general ledger.

  • Accounting Software: Perform accurate and timely postings into our accounting software.

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage the processing of invoices, payments, and expense claims. Monitor accounts receivable, proactively following up on outstanding payments to ensure steady cash flow.

Reconciliation & Cost Control

  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies in financial records.

  • Expense Monitoring: Monitor departmental expenses against approved budgets and flag any irregularities or overspending to management immediately.

Reporting, Compliance & Audit

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Provide necessary data to support management decision-making.

  • Budget Support: Assist the finance team with budget preparation and ongoing tracking.

  • Tax Compliance: Assist with statutory tax filings, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and LIRS.

  • Audit Readiness: Ensure full compliance with internal controls and support both internal and external audit processes.

Documentation

  • Filing: Maintain organized documentation of all financial transactions to ensure records are audit-ready and easily retrievable.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education/Experience: [Insert relevant qualification requirement, e.g., B.Sc/HND in Accounting or Finance] with a solid foundation in accounting practices.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

    • Hands-on experience with standard accounting software.
