Job Description:
We are seeking a disciplined and highly analytical Accountant to oversee our financial operations and ensure the absolute integrity of our fiscal reporting. This role is designed for an ICAN-certified professional who combines technical mastery of accounting principles with a rigorous approach to Nigerian statutory compliance. You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle—from general ledger management and payroll to tax filing and audit coordination providing the data-driven insights necessary for strategic management decisions.
The ideal candidate possesses a high level of professional integrity and the ability to maintain meticulous financial records in a fast-paced corporate environment.
Requirements:
Financial Reporting & Ledger Management
General Ledger: Maintain accurate, real-time financial records and ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled and up to date.
Periodic Reporting: Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that provide clear visibility into the company’s performance.
Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations and proactively resolve any identified discrepancies.
Compliance & Statutory Management
Tax Administration: Ensure full compliance with all Nigerian tax regulations, including the accurate calculation and filing of VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Company Income Tax.
Statutory Returns: Manage the timely preparation and filing of all required statutory returns to avoid penalties and ensure good standing.
Payroll Processing: Oversee the payroll cycle, ensuring all statutory deductions are correctly applied and remitted.
Audit & Internal Controls
Audit Readiness: Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors.
Control Framework: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Recommendation Implementation: Take ownership of audit recommendations, ensuring that process improvements are integrated into daily operations.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
Cost Control: Monitor departmental budgets and track expenditures to identify opportunities for cost optimization.
Advisory: Provide management with detailed financial analysis and actionable advice to support long-term planning and decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: BSc or HND in Accounting.
Professional Certification: Must be ICAN certified (Chartered Accountant).
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in a core accounting or audit role.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard Accounting Software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP).
Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and international financial reporting standards.
In-depth understanding of auditing processes and best practices.
