About Company:
The Brooks Africa Limited is a real estate development and investment company. We focus on creating homes that reflect the beauty in nature. Headed by a team of qualified Architects and Design professionals, we are the region's leading developer of bespoke homes and luxury destinations.
Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and analytically rigorous Account Officer to anchor the financial operations of The Brooks Africa. In the high-value world of real estate development, success is defined by "Capital Integrity", the ability to maintain impeccable financial records while providing the granular analysis necessary for project scaling and investor confidence. This role is designed for a "Financial Architect" with 2–5 years of experience who can blend "General Ledger Mastery" with the "Regulatory Precision" required to manage VAT, PAYE, and Pension compliance in Abuja’s dynamic market.
Your mission is to ensure "Zero-Variance Budgeting and Institutional Audit Readiness." You will be the primary link between our fiscal strategy and our operational execution: responsible for managing multi-million naira project budgets, implementing robust internal controls, and providing the financial insights that shape our residential and commercial landmarks. If you possess "Analytical Prowess," proficiency in Sage X3 or QuickBooks, and a results-driven approach to real estate finance, we want you to drive our shared growth.
Requirements:
1. Ledger Sovereignty & Transactional Governance
General Ledger Integrity: Maintain high-fidelity records of all financial transactions, ensuring the accuracy of accounts payable, receivable, and daily reconciliations.
Financial Reporting: Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements that provide a transparent view of the company's fiscal health and project liquidity.
Statutory Diplomacy: Ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian tax regulations, managing the timely filing of VAT, PAYE, PENSION, and other statutory returns to mitigate regulatory risk.
2. Budgetary Control & Project Analytics
Forecasting & Planning: Assist in the architecture of annual budgets and financial forecasts, aligning fiscal goals with our vision for modern African homes.
Variance Intelligence: Monitor real-time budget performance across various land and construction projects, providing detailed variance analysis to prevent cost overruns.
Cost Optimization: Collaborate with the procurement team to analyze costs and suggest measures that improve financial efficiency without compromising design value.
3. Internal Controls & Audit Readiness
Asset Safeguarding: Implement and enforce effective internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Audit Stewardship: Support internal and external audits by providing comprehensive documentation and proactively addressing audit findings.
Strategic Advisory: Provide operational teams with financial insights that support project planning, execution, and high-level decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Minimum of BA, BSc, or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2–5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting (Real Estate or Construction experience is a significant advantage).
Technical Mastery: High proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage X3 Construction, SAP, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
Core Competencies
Analytical Grit: Strong ability to interpret complex financial data for budgeting and forecasting.
Detail Orientation: A "Zero-Error" mindset regarding tax compliance and financial reporting standards.
Proactive Communication: Ability to translate complex numbers into clear insights for team collaboration and management meetings.
