Job Description:

We are seeking a strategically-minded and results-driven Account Management Lead to head our recovery and collections function. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of recovery accounts. You will go beyond traditional collections to design sophisticated recovery frameworks, manage high-stakes client relationships, and lead a high-performing team to exceed performance targets.

The ideal candidate is a "data-first" leader who balances commercial assertiveness with ethical standards, ensuring our recovery processes protect both the business's bottom line and its corporate reputation.

Requirements:

Strategy & Recovery Leadership

  • Recovery Architecture: Design and drive the end-to-end recovery and collections strategy, establishing performance targets that align with overarching business goals.

  • Strategic Recommendations: Present recovery performance and high-level strategic insights to senior leadership, translating raw operational data into business-level recommendations.

  • Relationship Framework: Own the engagement framework for recovery accounts, ensuring every touchpoint is professional, ethical, and commercially sound.

Team Management & Development

  • Team Building: Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing account management team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Coaching: Set clear expectations and provide continuous coaching to help team members grow and navigate complex account resolutions.

  • Performance Accountability: Monitor individual and team outputs, ensuring the unit consistently meets or exceeds its recovery KPIs.

Operational Excellence & Data Intelligence

  • Process Standardization: Define and maintain rigorous standards for account resolution, escalation, and closure, ensuring 100% compliance with regulatory and internal policies.

  • Performance Reporting: "Own the data" by building robust reporting frameworks that provide real-time visibility into recovery rates, portfolio health, and team performance.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the resolution process and implement streamlined workflows to improve recovery cycles.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in a lead or senior role within Collections, Debt Recovery, or Account Management.

    • Demonstrable track record of designing successful recovery strategies and managing high-value portfolios.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Strategic Thinking: Ability to design recovery workflows that maximize returns while minimizing brand risk.

    • Analytical Prowess: Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to build performance dashboards.

    • Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on coaching and managing diverse teams.

    • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian financial regulations and ethical collection standards.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to engage with senior stakeholders and articulate complex operational statuses clearly.
