Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Account Intern to join our finance team in Lagos. This role is designed for a recent graduate or a current student looking to gain hands-on experience in a structured corporate accounting environment. You will work closely with seasoned finance professionals, supporting daily financial operations while developing a solid foundation in bookkeeping, payroll, and statutory compliance.

The ideal candidate is a numerical thinker who is eager to learn, highly organized, and committed to maintaining the integrity of financial data.

Requirements:

Financial Documentation & Record Keeping

• Data Entry: Perform accurate data entry and updates within the company’s accounting systems.

• Document Management: Organize and file accounting records (vouchers, receipts, and invoices) to ensure easy retrieval and audit readiness.

• Administrative Support: Carry out general administrative duties as assigned by the finance department.

Operational Accounting Support

• Transaction Processing: Assist in processing invoices, tracking payments, and recording daily expenses.

• Reconciliations: Help reconcile bank statements and manage petty cash records to ensure internal balances align with actual cash flow.

• Payroll Assistance: Support the preparation of payroll and maintain accurate records of staff payments.

Reporting & Compliance

• Financial Reporting: Assist in drafting daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for management review.

• Audit & Inventory: Provide support to the finance team during internal/external audits and physical stock-taking exercises.

• Policy Adherence: Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with established company financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Experience

• Qualification: HND or B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. (Candidates currently undergoing their studies are also encouraged to apply).

• Seniority: 0–1 year of experience. This is an entry-level role.

Technical Skills

• Foundational Knowledge: Basic understanding of accounting principles (Debits/Credits, Accruals, etc.).

• Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.

• Numerical Ability: Strong analytical and mathematical skills for handling complex data sets.

Core Competencies

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy in data entry and reporting.

• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills for internal team collaboration.
