Job Description:
Mission Planning:
- Plan drone flights based on project requirements
- Study the location, terrain, and weather conditions before operations
- Prepare flight plans, routes, and waypoints
- Conduct risk assessments before every mission
Pre-Flight Preparation:
Perform detailed pre-flight checks on:
- Drone systems (motors, propellers, sensors)
- Batteries and controllers
- GPS signal and calibration
- Ensure all equipment is in good working condition
- Confirm the safety of the environment and team
Drone Operation (Flight Execution):
- Safely operate drones during missions
- Capture high-quality images, videos, and aerial data
- Maintain visual line of sight (VLOS) where required
- Work closely with a Visual Observer/Spotter
- Follow all flight safety procedures
Inspection & Surveillance:
Inspect infrastructure such as:
- Pipelines and flowlines
- Oil wells and facilities
- Buildings and project sites
Monitor for:
- Oil spills, leaks, and environmental hazards
- Illegal activities and security threats
Data Collection & Documentation:
- Record accurate data during flights
- Capture coordinates of key findings
- Store and organize images, videos, and logs
- Maintain proper flight records and reports
Data Processing Support:
- Assist in processing drone data using software such as DJI Terra and Pix4D
- Generate outputs such as:
- Orthomosaic maps
- 3D models
- Digital Terrain Models (DTM)
Equipment Maintenance:
- Carry out routine maintenance of drones
- Clean and inspect drone components
- Report faults and coordinate repairs
- Ensure firmware and software are updated
Health, Safety & Compliance (HSE)
- Follow all aviation and safety regulations
- Conduct risk assessments before flights
- Ensure safe operations to avoid accidents or damage
- Maintain a zero-incident work culture
Team Collaboration:
- Work with surveyors, GIS analysts, and engineers
- Support field teams with aerial data
- Communicate effectively during missions
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and quality of data captured
- Safety record (zero incidents)
- Efficiency of flight operations
- Timely delivery of outputs
- Equipment reliability and maintenance.
Requirements:
- Certification in drone operation (UAV license where applicable)
- Background in Surveying, Geomatics, GIS, or related field (preferred)
- Experience in drone mapping, inspection, or surveillance
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong drone flying skills and control
- Good understanding of mapping and geospatial concepts
- Knowledge of drone software and mission planning tools
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in field conditions (heat, remote areas, etc.)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Key Tools & Equipment:
- UAVs such as DJI Matrice Series
- GNSS/GPS devices
- Drone software such as DJI Pilot, DJI Terra, and Pix4D
- Batteries, controllers, and field accessories
Work Environment:
- Field-based (construction sites, oil and gas facilities, remote areas)
- May involve travel and extended working hours
- Exposure to different weather and terrain conditions.

Salary
