Job Description:

We are seeking a high-velocity and analytically elite Backend & DevOps Engineer to anchor the technological engine of our health and nutrition programs in Abuja. In the specialized landscape of humanitarian data systems, success is defined by "System Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize complex supply chain workflows with the clinical precision required for Real-Time Commodity Tracking, DHIS2/KoboToolbox Integration, and Serverless Data Processing. This role is designed for a "Fidelity Architect" with 3+ years of experience who can blend "Backend Grit" (building Python-based RESTful APIs) with the "DevOps Agility" required to automate the build-test-deploy lifecycle using Docker, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and GitOps principles.

Requirements:

1. Service Orchestration & API Governance

• Backend Sovereignty: Develop scalable Python services for health and nutrition systems, acting as the primary "Source of Application Logic."

• API Architecture: Build and manage secure RESTful APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger) for system interoperability, providing the "Structural Foundation" for data access across DHIS2 and ODK platforms.

• Lifecycle Stewardship: Manage the full API lifecycle—including versioning, rate limiting (Apigee), and deprecation—ensuring the "Source of System Connectivity" is elite and uncompromised.

2. Tactical Resilience & DevOps Logic

• Automation Sovereignty: Design and manage CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Cloud Build), acting as the primary "Source of Deployment Velocity."

• Infrastructure Architecture: Automate containerization (Docker) and orchestration (GKE/EKS/Fargate), providing the "Analytical Foundation" for secure, version-controlled GitOps deployments.

• Security Stewardship: Implement robust authentication and authorization for sensitive beneficiary data, maintaining the "Source of System Integrity."

3. Data Integrity & Decision-Support Power

• Pipeline Sovereignty: Develop data pipelines for integrating nutrition surveillance and commodity tracking, acting as the primary "Source of Interoperability."

• Analytics Architecture: Support backend systems that feed MEAL dashboards, providing the "Visual Foundation" for evidence-based decision-making.

• Velocity Logic: Utilize 3+ years of experience in supply chain tools to deliver inventory and market data solutions, maximizing the "Source of Technical Throughput."

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Experience: 3+ years in Backend Development or DevOps (Humanitarian/Health sector preferred).

• Education: Accredited professional in Data Science, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related fields (Postgraduate AI/DS is an asset).

• Tech Mastery: Strong proficiency in Python, RESTful API design, and API Management Platforms.

• Cloud Power: Extensive experience with Docker, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), Serverless architectures, and CI/CD tools.
