Job Description:
- The Agency Lead is a dynamic executive responsible for steering the agency's strategic vision, with a specialized focus on celebrity talent management and public relations.
- This role requires a leader who can balance the high-stakes demands of public-facing talent with the business needs of the agency.
- You will oversee a roster of high-profile clients, manage a team of publicists and agents, and act as the senior strategist for complex media narratives, reputation management, and career trajectory planning.
- You operate at the intersection of entertainment, media, and brand strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Strategy & Roster Development (Celebrity Focus):
- Roster Curation: Oversee the strategic growth of the talent roster, identifying and signing personalities (actors, musicians, athletes, influencers) who align with the agency's brand and market positioning.
- Career Architecture: Lead high-level career planning for A-list clients, mapping out long-term trajectories that encompass film/TV deals, endorsements, publishing, and philanthropic ventures.
- Talent Relations: Serve as the primary senior liaison for the agency's most sensitive or high-profile clients, building deep trust and acting as a confidant regarding public and private matters.
- Negotiation Leadership: Oversee high-stakes negotiations for talent, including contracts, endorsements, and partnerships, ensuring maximum value and protection for the client.
Public Relations & Media Strategy:
- Narrative Control: Architect comprehensive PR strategies that shape public perception, manage media narratives, and secure positive coverage in top-tier outlets.
- Crisis Management: Lead the agency's response to reputational threats. You are the calm in the storm, responsible for rapid-response strategy, message framing, and media relations during sensitive situations.
- Media Training: Oversee the coaching and preparation of talent for high-pressure media appearances (red carpets, talk shows, investigative interviews).
- Brand Partnerships: Work closely with the partnerships division to ensure talent endorsements align with their public image and long-term career goals.
Agency Operations & Team Leadership:
- Business Development: Drive new business by leveraging your network within the entertainment industry to secure both new talent and new opportunities for existing clients.
- Financial Oversight: Manage agency P&L, including client retainer structures, commission models, and profitability analysis per talent roster.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Talent Retention Rate: Ability to keep top-tier talent loyal to the agency.
- Coverage Quality: Share of voice, sentiment analysis, and tier of media placements secured.
- Crisis Resolution Speed/Tone: Effectiveness and speed of response during reputational threats.
- New Business Growth: Number of new signings and expansion of services for existing clients.
- Revenue per Client: Growth in earnings from existing talent through new deals and opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field (MBA is a plus but not required).
- 5+ years of experience in talent management, entertainment PR, or celebrity representation.
- Proven track record of managing high-profile talent through significant career moments (awards seasons, major releases, scandals, career pivots).
- Extensive rolodex of media contacts across entertainment, lifestyle, and business press.
- Experience managing P&L and understanding the commercial realities of commission-based revenue.
