Job Description:
WTS Energy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Engineer to support a major LNG train project in Nigeria. This is a high-impact, leadership role focused on industrial building design and construction support for large-scale energy infrastructure. You will be responsible for independently managing the full project lifecycle, ensuring design integrity, and resolving complex multidisciplinary interface issues. If you have the technical expertise to bridge the gap between 3D design and field constructability, we invite you to help us deliver this world-class energy project.
Requirements:
Design Leadership: Lead the validation and review of building structural systems, architectural layouts, and finishing works (waterproofing, roofing, etc.). Ensure seamless integration with building services including HVAC, electrical, instrumentation, and plumbing.
Project & Field Management: Manage the full project cycle from initial design to close-out. Proactively manage Field Design Changes (FDC), evaluating constructability and proposing cost-effective, technically sound engineering solutions.
Multidisciplinary Interface: Serve as the primary technical coordinator. Resolve design conflicts and ensure strict consistency between Approved for Construction (AFC) drawings, 3D models, and actual site conditions.
Vendor & Material Engineering: Oversee the review and approval of Material Approval Requests (MAR). Evaluate vendor technical documents and datasheets to ensure compliance with international codes and project specs.
Client & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the technical face of the project. Lead discussions with clients, defend design decisions, negotiate practical alternatives, and address site queries promptly under pressure.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Building Engineering.
Experience: 10–15 years of proven experience in industrial building design, with significant exposure to Oil & Gas or LNG projects.
Technical Proficiency:
Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD (drawing review/mark-up), MS Office Suite, and 3D review software (PDMS, E3D, or SP3D).
Standards: Deep working knowledge of international codes (ASCE, ACI, BS, Eurocode).
Structural Expertise: Expert-level understanding of reinforced concrete and steel structural configurations and foundation systems.
Core Competencies: Ability to independently manage design inconsistencies, risk identification, and temporary vs. permanent installation strategies.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead technical negotiations and work under high-pressure site conditions.
