Job Description:
- The successful candidate will undergo structured on-the-job training and gain practical experience in civil engineering, construction supervision, facility maintenance, project execution, quality control, and site management within an industrial environment.
- The role is suitable for a recent graduate who is passionate about developing a career in civil engineering and is willing to learn, work on-site, and support experienced engineers in delivering safe and quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in planning, coordinating, and supervising civil engineering activities.
- Support the execution and monitoring of construction, renovation, maintenance, and infrastructure projects.
- Assist in site inspections and monitor ongoing civil works to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret basic civil and structural drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
- Assist with measurements, quantity take-offs, material calculations, and preparation of basic reports.
- Support the supervision of contractors, artisans, and site workers.
- Monitor the quality of construction materials and workmanship under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist in monitoring concrete works, foundations, drainage, roads, pavements, blockwork, plastering, and other civil works.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance of buildings, roads, drainage systems, and other civil infrastructure.
- Assist in identifying defects, structural issues, and maintenance requirements and escalate them appropriately.
- Maintain records of site activities, measurements, inspections, materials, and project progress.
- Assist in preparing daily and periodic engineering reports.
- Support project documentation, including drawings, BOQs, work schedules, inspection reports, and completion records.
- Liaise with contractors and other departments under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and safe working practices during all civil activities.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, site meetings, inspections, and project reviews.
- Assist with quality checks, snagging, project completion, and handover activities.
- Learn and apply relevant engineering standards, construction practices, and company procedures.
- Perform other engineering duties assigned by the Engineering Manager or supervising engineer.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- NYSC completion/discharge certificate or exemption letter where applicable.
- Strong interest in developing a career in civil engineering and industrial operations.
- Basic knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and site practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Relevant technical, engineering, HSE, or professional certifications will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site and learn in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to take responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
