Job Description:

We are seeking a highly specialized Quantity Surveyor / Geologist to manage the legal, regulatory, and exploration lifecycle of our mineral assets. Based in Abuja, this part-time role is critical for securing our "Right to Mine" and ensuring that our exploration activities are both compliant and scientifically sound.

The ideal candidate bridges the gap between technical Geology and Compliance Management. You must be a veteran of the Nigerian mining sector with a deep understanding of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD) and the Mining Cadastre Office (MCO). If you possess COMEG registration and have a proven track record of securing and maintaining mineral titles in Nigeria, we want your expertise.

Requirements:

1. Mineral Rights & Cadastre Management

• Title Lifecycle: Lead the end-to-end process for the application, registration, renewal, and amendment of Exploration Licenses (EL), Small Scale Mining Leases (SSML), and Mining Leases (ML).

• Compliance Inspections: Conduct regular status audits of existing titles to ensure zero lapses in legal standing or payment of annual service fees.

• MCO Liaison: Act as the primary interface with the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office to track approval progress and resolve administrative bottlenecks.

2. Policy, Compliance & Risk Mitigation

• Regulatory Intelligence: Monitor shifts in the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act and related policies to formulate proactive compliance strategies.

• Dispute Resolution: Represent the company’s interests in mineral rights disputes, ensuring legal and land-user risks are mitigated.

• Loop-Based Reporting: Plan, execute, and report on compliance activities on time, ensuring a complete feedback loop for senior management.

3. Field Exploration & Technical Geology

• Site Deployment: Utilize your field exploration experience to oversee mining site assessments and geological surveys.

• Data Integrity: Ensure that exploration data aligns with statutory reporting requirements for the Ministry.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology.

• Certification: Must be a registered member of the Council of Mining and Earth Scientists (COMEG) of Nigeria.

• Experience: 3 – 30 years of experience in mining and exploration, with a specific focus on the Nigerian Mining Bureau and Ministry of Mines.

• International Exposure: Experience working with international firms is preferred; proficiency in Chinese is a significant advantage.
