Job Description:
We are seeking a technically rigorous Project Quality Control (QC) Engineer specializing in Engineering Fabrics to join our project team on Bonny Island. In this role, you will be the primary guardian of technical integrity for critical specialized materials, including coatings, insulation, cladding, fireproofing, and refractory systems. You will be responsible for overseeing contractor compliance, witnessing high-stakes qualification tests, and ensuring that all installations meet the stringent safety and quality standards of the Oil and Gas industry.
The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in NACE/SSPC standards and has a proven track record of managing Quality Control for complex engineering fabrics in high-pressure industrial environments.
Requirements:
Quality Planning & Oversight
ITP Review: Review and approve discipline Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and associated quality control documentation.
Compliance Monitoring: Witness and monitor contractor work activities and inspections to ensure 100% adherence to approved quality plans and procedures.
Document Control: Verify that only the latest Approved for Construction (AFC) design documents are utilized at the work site.
Technical Inspection & Material Validation
Engineering Fabrics Expertise: Monitor technical requirements for coatings, insulation, cladding, fireproofing, and refractory materials to ensure highest-quality installation.
Material Verification: Review material test certificates and receiving inspection reports to confirm compliance with project specifications.
Preservation & Storage: Review preservation reports and conduct spot inspections of stored engineering fabrics to prevent degradation prior to installation.
Painter Qualifications: Witness and validate qualification tests for painters and specialized applicators in line with project requirements.
Reporting & Non-Conformance Management
Surveillance Reporting: Prepare and issue comprehensive weekly summary reports based on site quality surveillance activities.
NCR Management: Identify and escalate non-conformances (NCRs) to the Senior Quality Surveillance Engineer; monitor and review the resolution of field NCR action items.
Technical Support: Provide prompt and accurate resolution for technical queries regarding engineering fabrics raised by contractors.
Completions Management: Monitor the contractor’s completions management process and verify final quality reports.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Professional Certification
Degree: B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
Certification: Minimum Level II NACE or SSPC Coating Inspector Certificate is mandatory.
Experience & Industry Knowledge
Seniority: Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in the inspection of coating, insulation, refractory, and fireproofing activities.
Sector Experience: Prior experience in the Oil and Gas industry is highly preferred.
Standards Proficiency: Mastery of NACE, SSPC, Shell DEPs, and relevant International codes and best engineering practices.
Technical & Soft Skills
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in basic MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing test reports and witnessing field inspections.
Communication: Strong reporting skills and the ability to articulate technical non-conformances clearly to both contractors and senior management.
Problem Solving: Ability to resolve technical queries accurately under project deadlines
