Job Description:

Etazuma is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the exploitation and field operations of its gold mining sites in Kogi State, Nigeria. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the mine, coordinating with stakeholders, and implementing strategies to minimize or regulate the activities of illegal miners while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Project Manager will work closely with the Head, Metallic Mining Department, to achieve the company’s objectives of mining Gold in proven sections of the license area as well as sourcing gold from local miners while maintaining a positive relationship with the community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Execution:
  2. Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful mine operations.
  3. Coordinate with stakeholders, including local miners, community leaders, and regulatory bodies.
  4. Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Mine Operations Management:
  • Oversee the exploitation and field operations of the mine, including gold production, processing, and transportation.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the quality of gold produced.
  • Manage the relationship with local miners, providing incentives and support to encourage them to operate safely and to sell their gold to Etazuma.
  • Regulation of Illegal Miners:
  • Develop and implement strategies to regulate the activities of illegal miners operating within the license area.
  • Work with local authorities and community leaders to establish a framework for cooperation and compliance.
  • Ensure that the company’s approach to regulating illegal miners is consistent with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the company’s operations are aligned with the needs and expectations of stakeholders.
  • Manage conflicts and disputes with stakeholders, working to resolve issues in a fair and timely manner.
  • Reporting and Communication:
  • Provide regular reports to the EC through the Head, Metallic Mining Department, on project progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders, including local miners, community leaders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and implement a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed about the company’s operations and plans.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mining operations, project management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications, such as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or a Certified Mining Professional, are desirable
  •  Knowledge of Nigerian mining regulations and industry best practices
