Job Description:

Job Summary

The Head of Stores will be responsible for managing all aspects of inventory and stores operations across multiple sites. This role is key to ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of various goods, while maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting asset valuation, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute robust store management policies, procedures, and strategies.

  • Oversee the receiving, storage, and issuance of raw materials, spare parts, packaging materials, and finished products.

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production and operational efficiency.

  • Lead and coordinate periodic stock-taking and reconciliation exercises to ensure accuracy and accountability.

  • Implement effective inventory control systems to minimize damage, loss, and obsolescence.

  • Supervise asset valuation and ensure proper documentation of stored items in compliance with financial reporting standards.

  • Ensure all inventory items are accurately coded and labeled for easy identification and traceability.

  • Review and authorize store requisitions to align with operational demands and budgetary guidelines.

  • Maintain a comprehensive and updated asset register with accurate tagging and classification.

  • Work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards across all storage facilities.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled team of store officers to ensure high performance.

  • Generate and present periodic inventory and performance reports to senior leadership.

  • Drive continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required; possession of a Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CIPS or APICS will be an added advantage.

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in store or warehouse management, including at least 5 years in a senior or leadership capacity within the FMCG or manufacturing sector.

  • In-depth knowledge of inventory management systems, preferably SAP or similar ERP platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience in asset valuation, tagging, and inventory coding.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and developing teams in high-demand, fast-paced operational environments.

  • Strong analytical thinking, organizational abilities, and effective problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
