Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Financial Controller to provide strategic financial guidance and oversee the integrity of our fiscal operations. In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding company assets through robust internal controls, while driving the budgeting, forecasting, and project costing processes. You will serve as a central figure in the finance department, collaborating closely with Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure financial transparency and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is a chartered professional with deep expertise in Nigerian tax laws, IFRS reporting, and the ability to navigate complex project-based accounting environments.
Requirements:
Financial Reporting & General Ledger Control
GL Management: Maintain the General Ledger and prepare comprehensive monthly management accounts.
Financial Cycle: Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including the management of accruals, prepayments, journals, and fixed asset registers.
Accuracy: Ensure all financial data is processed in accordance with IFRS standards.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
Statutory Filings: Ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian statutory requirements, including PAYE, WHT, VAT, Pension, NHF, NSITF, and ITF.
Audit Management: Prepare detailed audit schedules and provide end-to-end support for external auditors to ensure a smooth, issue-free audit trail.
Regulatory Liaison: Maintain rigorous documentation to ensure the company remains in good standing with all regulatory bodies.
Treasury & Internal Controls
Reconciliations: Lead the bank reconciliation process and work directly with AR and AP teams to resolve outstanding reconciling items.
Control Frameworks: Design and implement robust internal controls to minimize risk and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting across all departments.
Project Accounting & Cost Monitoring
Cost Control: Review project cost postings and ensure accurate allocation to the correct Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) or cost centers.
Revenue Recognition: Collaborate with the PMO and Technical teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and insightful project reporting.
Systems & Process Innovation
ERP Optimization: Support and enhance the usage of Sage and Zoho Books across the organization.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively recommend improvements to finance processes and reporting templates to drive departmental efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: BSc or HND in Accounting or Finance.
Professional Status: Mandatory ICAN/ACCA qualification (or at a verifiable advanced stage).
Experience:
5–8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
Proven background in GL accounting, financial reporting, and IFRS.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Sage, Zoho Books, or high-tier ERP systems.
Advanced MS Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, and complex reconciliations).
Soft Skills:
High integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

A proactive, problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail.
