Job Description:
- We seek a highly skilled and motivated Datacenter Presales Engineer to join our dynamic team.
- The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of networking, server, storage, and virtualization solutions and be able to work closely with sales teams to drive the success of customer engagements.
- A Highly skilled Datacenter Presales Engineer with deep expertise in Cisco ACI, fabric networking, compute platforms, virtualization, HCI, and enterprise storage.
- Strong ability to lead pre-sales engagements, deliver technical presentations, design scalable architectures, and support sales teams in closing datacenter transformation opportunities.
Core Presales Capabilities
- Customer technical discovery and datacenter assessments
- ACI fabric design, multi‑pod/multi‑site architecture proposals
- Compute /server sizing and workload placement recommendations
- Storage design (SAN/NAS), backup/DR, replication strategies
- HCI (Cisco, Nutanix, VMware vSAN) architecture and TCO modeling
- RFP/RFQ contributions, solution BOMs, pricing tools (CCW, OEM portals)
- POCs, demo environments, and technical enablement workshops
Specialized Datacenter Technologies
- Cisco ACI: Tenants, VRFs, bridge domains, contracts, EPGs, spine/leaf
- Compute Platforms: Cisco UCS (FI, blades, rack), Dell EMC, HPE Synergy
- Storage: NetApp ONTAP, Dell Unity/PowerStore, HPE 3PAR/Nimble
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, KVM
- HCI Solutions: Nutanix, vSAN, Cisco HyperFlex
Key Responsibilities
- Design full‑stack datacenter architectures integrating compute, ACI, storage, and virtualization
- Deliver customer workshops on ACI design, migration, and automation
- Create multivendor solutions for enterprise datacenter refresh projects
- Design core data center network topologies such as leaf‑spine, L2/L3 fabrics, overlays, segmentation, and QoS.
- Define network security policies, multi‑tenant isolation, and east‑west security frameworks.
- Integrate routing, switching, load balancing, firewalls, and application delivery into the datacenter stack.
- Support sales cycles with technical demos, solution design sessions, and performance sizing
- Recommend automation strategies for provisioning, configuration, patching, and monitoring.
- Define IaC (Infrastructure‑as‑Code) approaches using scripting, orchestration, and configuration management tools.
- Advise on datacenter operational maturity and automation frameworks.
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer compute and storage requirements and recommend appropriate enterprise-grade datacenter solutions.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demos, and workshops to highlight the value of datacenter consolidation, virtualization, and high-performance storage.
- Act as a technical point of contact during the sales cycle, providing subject matter expertise in server architecture, SAN/NAS networking, and backup/recovery.
- Work with the sales team to create technical content for RFPs, RFQs, and proposals, focusing on technical accuracy and system compatibility.
- Create solution architectures, Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and Proof of Value (PoV) based on identified needs, ensuring proposed datacenter designs (Blade/Rack servers, HCI) integrate seamlessly with existing customer environments.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization’s datacenter solutions —including compute, fabric interconnects, and management platforms — to provide technical guidance to customers.
- Work closely with the engineering and product management teams to stay current on new hardware releases, firmware enhancements, and software-defined features.
- Drive customer satisfaction by validating that proposed designs meet performance benchmarks and up-time requirements.
- Achieving financial targets for the datacenter solution areas under your management through accurate scoping and optimized design.
- Evaluate and optimize solution performance periodically to ensure hardware is utilized efficiently in line with organizational goals.
- Assist in developing business cases, TCO/ROI models, and modernization roadmaps.
- Act as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers, building long‑term technical credibility.
Requirements:
- CCNP Data Center, VCP (VMware Certified Professional), or equivalent industry certifications from major OEMs (Cisco, Dell, HPE, NetApp).
- Proven experience in designing and architecting datacenter solutions, including Unified Compute, SAN/Fabric switching, and Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI).
- Experience working with multiple OEMs and vendors in the datacenter ecosystem to create multi-vendor integrated solutions.
- Ability to align technical solutions with business goals, focusing on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and financial objectives.
- Excellent communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset.
- Familiarity with creating BOMs, pricing strategies, and complex solution configurations using vendor-specific tools (e.g., CCW, HPE Synergy, or Dell Solutions Configurator).
- Up-to-date understanding of technology trends in the datacenter domain, such as Hybrid Cloud integration, Automation, and Disaster Recovery.
- Assist in developing business cases, TCO/ROI models, and modernization roadmaps.
- Act as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers, building long‑term technical credibility.
- Broad expertise across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, HCI, security, and automation.
- Strong understanding of data center architecture principles.
