Job Description:
- The Credit Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's credit management function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts while minimizing credit risk and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- The role involves monitoring customer accounts, managing the credit control team, and supporting the organization's cash flow and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce the company's credit control policies and procedures.
- Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers and recommend appropriate credit limits.
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
- Lead and supervise the credit control team, ensuring collection targets are achieved.
- Review aging reports regularly and develop strategies to reduce overdue receivables.
- Follow up on overdue accounts through calls, emails, and formal demand notices.
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements with customers where appropriate.
- Escalate delinquent accounts for legal action or debt recovery when necessary.
- Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable (AR) and debt collection reports for management.
- Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Customer Service teams to resolve billing disputes and improve collection efficiency.
- Reconcile customer accounts and ensure accurate recording of receipts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor bad debt provisions and recommend write-offs where necessary.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the credit control process.
- Support external and internal audits by providing required documentation and reports.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or finance.
- Experience in the consumer electronics, FMCG, retail, manufacturing, or distribution industry is an advantage.
