Job Description:

Collateral Management:

  • Manage and maintain accurate records of all collateral assets.
  • Ensure proper documentation, verification, and safe custody of collateral files.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and audits of collateral assets.
  • Monitor the condition and status of collateral assets regularly.
  • Maintain an updated collateral database and reporting system.

Vehicle Valuation & Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct vehicle valuation exercises for collateralized vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive tripartite vehicle valuation.
  • Carry out collateral risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Ensure valuations reflect current market realities and risk exposure.

Vehicle Tracking & Downtime Monitoring:

  • Implement and manage a robust vehicle tracking system.
  • Continuously monitor all tracked collateral vehicles.
  • Identify and escalate downtime or offline tracking incidents promptly.
  • Ensure notifications are sent to relevant stakeholders for immediate action.
  • Liaise with tracking vendors to resolve tracking-related issues.

Document Expiration Monitoring:

  • Monitor expiration dates for vehicle licenses, insurance documents, roadworthiness certificates, proof of ownership and other regulatory documents.
  • Maintain an alert and reminder system for renewals.
  • Notify collateral owners and relevant stakeholders ahead of expiration dates.

Monitoring of Parked Collateral:

  • Monitor all parked collateral vehicles daily.
  • Implement routine maintenance checks including oil checks, tyre inspections. battery checks, engine checks.
  • Schedule regular inspections for parked vehicles.
  • Ensure collateral vehicles remain in good and recoverable condition.

Storage Fee Management:

  • Maintain daily storage fee logs for all collateral vehicles.
  • Track parking duration, daily charges, and outstanding fees.
  • Reconcile and review storage expenses periodically.
  • Prepare reports relating to storage costs and utilization.

Collateral Liquidation & Disposal:

  • Coordinate collateral repossession and recovery processes.
  • Manage collateral liquidation, auction, and disposal activities.
  • Liaise with legal teams, auctioneers, and recovery agents during disposal processes.
  • Ensure all liquidation activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare liquidation and recovery reports for management review.
  • Maximize recovery value while minimizing losses and operational costs.

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare periodic collateral management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Support audit exercises relating to collateral management.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with Risk, Legal, Collections, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Manage relationships with tracking firms, storage facilities, valuation agents, and auctioneers.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform every other responsibility assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 3–5 years relevant experience in collateral management, recovery operations, fleet management, or risk operations.
  • Experience within a fintech, microfinance bank, financial institution, or asset financing company is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of collateral and asset management processes.
  • Good understanding of vehicle valuation and recovery processes.
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and performance-driven environment.
