Job Description:

We are seeking a dual-functional Accountant / Procurement Officer to manage our financial records and oversee our strategic acquisition processes. This role is a critical intersection of financial accountability and supply chain efficiency. You will be responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are error-free and compliant with Nigerian statutory regulations, while simultaneously managing a transparent, cost-effective procurement pipeline.

The ideal candidate is a highly principled professional who can balance the technical rigor of bookkeeping and tax compliance with the negotiation skills required to manage vendor relationships and optimize organizational spending.

Requirements:

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Financial Reporting: Maintain accurate ledgers and prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management review.

  • Cash Flow & Payroll: Manage accounts payable/receivable, conduct bank reconciliations, and process payroll in strict accordance with company policy.

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure total adherence to Nigerian financial regulations, including the timely filing and processing of VAT, PAYE, and Withholding Tax (WHT).

  • Audit & Budgeting: Support internal and external audits while providing data-driven insights for budgeting and financial forecasting.

Procurement & Supply Chain Oversight

  • Vendor Management: Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers based on a balance of price, quality, and reliability.

  • Order Fulfillment: Prepare purchase orders and contracts, tracking deliveries to ensure goods and services are received on time and within specification.

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop procurement plans aligned with organizational needs, maintaining an updated vendor database and monitoring inventory for timely replenishment.

  • Policy Enforcement: Ensure all acquisitions are transparent and comply with internal procurement policies to prevent fraud or waste.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Internal Controls: Maintain rigorous documentation for every transaction, ensuring all activities are traceable and adhere to internal control systems.

  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as a point of contact for auditors and regulatory bodies such as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential financial or procurement risks and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • Experience:

    • 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or procurement.

    • Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and local procurement processes.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel.

    • Experience in vendor evaluation and contract negotiation.

  • Certifications: Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA is a significant advantage.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Integrity: Unwavering ethical standards and accountability in handling company funds.

    • Analytical Rigor: High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

    • Negotiation: Ability to drive cost-effective terms with suppliers without compromising quality.
