Job Description:

We are seeking a technically proficient and safety-conscious Subsea Engineer to support the design, engineering, and execution of complex subsea projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the lifecycle of subsea assets including pipelines, risers, and umbilicals ensuring that all installation, inspection, and maintenance activities are performed to the highest industry standards. You will serve as a vital link between onshore engineering and offshore execution, coordinating with ROV and diving teams to deliver project objectives safely and on schedule.

The ideal candidate has a strong field background in the Niger Delta region and the technical depth to troubleshoot high-pressure subsea equipment in real-time.

Requirements:

Project Engineering & Design Support

• Asset Oversight: Support the design and engineering of subsea structures, including pipelines, SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers, and Flowlines), trees, and manifolds.

• Technical Documentation: Prepare and review critical engineering documents, including method statements, installation procedures, and detailed technical reports.

• Drawing Interpretation: Review and interpret complex subsea drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with client requirements and international codes.

Offshore Operations & Maintenance

• IMR Planning: Plan and oversee Subsea Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair (IMR) activities to ensure long-term asset integrity.

• Field Interface: Act as the primary technical interface with offshore teams, including ROV operators, commercial divers, and vessel crews.

• Campaign Support: Provide on-site technical support during offshore campaigns, troubleshooting subsea equipment and ensuring smooth operational flow.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Safety Leadership: Ensure all subsea activities strictly comply with HSE standards, industry codes (API, ISO, DNV), and local regulatory requirements.

• Progress Monitoring: Track project milestones and identify potential operational or technical risks, implementing mitigation measures to prevent delays.

• Vendor Coordination: Liaise with clients, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure equipment and services meet project specifications.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, or Petroleum Engineering.

• Experience:

  • 3–8+ years of dedicated experience in subsea engineering within the upstream oil and gas sector.

  • Proven experience in offshore installation, IMR, or subsea construction support.

• Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of subsea systems (trees, manifolds, umbilicals, and flowlines).

  • Familiarity with international subsea standards such as API 17D, ISO 13628, and DNV codes.

• Certifications:

  • Valid offshore certifications, including BOSIET/HUET and a current Offshore Medical certificate, are a significant advantage.

• Core Competencies:

  • Ability to work in high-pressure, remote offshore environments.

  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex subsea hardware.

  • Excellent communication skills for managing multi-disciplinary contractor teams.
