  • White Paper Development: Research and author deep-dive papers on governance and development, specifically highlighting indigenous knowledge systems.

  • Academic Co-authorship: Draft and refine peer-reviewed articles and policy-focused publications that meet international academic standards.

  • Grant & Proposal Support: Provide critical research and data-backed narratives for fundraising proposals and donor engagement materials.

2. Thought Leadership & Public Discourse

  • Media Engagement: Write persuasive op-eds, briefs, and thought leadership articles for mainstream and international media organizations.

  • Insights Newsletter: Conduct desk research to produce regular content for the organization’s Insights newsletter, keeping stakeholders informed on emerging trends.

  • Presentation Support: Curate research findings for high-level conferences, policy forums, and stakeholder events.

3. Collaborative Research & Mentorship

  • Ecosystem Collaboration: Partner with internal teams and a network of external global researchers to produce multi-disciplinary work.

  • Knowledge Transfer: Provide guidance and research support to junior researchers and interns, fostering a culture of academic rigor.

  • Strategic Support: Work closely with senior leadership to align research outputs with the organization's long-term mission and policy goals.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in African Studies, Political Science, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.

  • Advanced Standing: A Master’s or PhD (completed or in progress) is a significant advantage.

  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated evidence of publications (academic journals, policy briefs, or recognized media outlets) is essential.

Core Competencies

  • Dual-Track Writing: The ability to switch between dense, technical academic prose and accessible, engaging narratives for a general audience.

  • Thematic Expertise: Working knowledge of African governance structures, development economics, or indigenous knowledge systems.

  • Research Rigor: Proficiency in desk research and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-level environment.
