Job Description:

Pullus Africa is seeking a meticulous and highly qualified Quality Assurance (QA) Officer to safeguard the integrity of our poultry value chain. Your primary mandate will be to ensure the consistent production of safe, high-quality poultry products that meet both rigorous internal standards and international food safety regulations.

This role spans the entire production lifecycle from the receipt of raw materials and farm-level inputs to final packaging and distribution. You will act as the critical link between the procurement, extension, and logistics teams to ensure that quality is never compromised at any stage of the journey.

Requirements:

Quality Systems & Compliance

• Program Development: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive QA programs, including detailed inspection protocols and internal audit schedules.

• Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all operations remain in strict compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO, and local food safety regulations.

• Continuous Monitoring: Oversee the production floor to identify, document, and resolve quality deviations in real-time.

Laboratory & Technical Analysis

• Testing & Verification: Conduct regular sampling and analysis of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished products to verify nutritional and safety specifications.

• Process Control: Maintain detailed, audit-ready records of all quality control activities to demonstrate transparency and process stability.

• Research & Development: Lead R&D initiatives to evaluate emerging technologies and equipment that can improve product shelf-life, taste, and operational efficiency.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Staff Training: Educate and supervise production staff to ensure absolute adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Quality Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams and external regulatory bodies regarding all quality inquiries.

• Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Partner with the Purchase and Logistics teams to verify the quality of incoming inputs and the safety of outgoing distributions.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: * Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related field.

• Experience: * 3–5 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role specifically within the poultry or food processing industry.

• Technical Proficiency: * Expert understanding of HACCP, GMP, and ISO food safety management systems.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and the use of modern QC software/tools.

• Core Competencies:

  • Analytical Rigor: Strong ability to interpret lab results and translate them into actionable production adjustments.

  • Documentation: Exceptional skills in technical reporting and maintaining audit-ready documentation.

  • Auditing: Experience in conducting both internal and vendor audits.

• Location: * Strict Preference: Must reside in Karu or its immediate environs.
