Job Description:

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Post-Operative Caregivers to join our recovery team in Abuja. In this role, you will provide essential non-medical support to patients during the most critical stages of their surgical recovery. Your primary focus will be on ensuring patient comfort, maintaining impeccable hygiene standards, and assisting with activities of daily living that patients cannot perform independently post-surgery.

The ideal candidate is a patient-centric professional who understands the delicacy of post-operative care and possesses the observational skills necessary to assist the nursing staff in monitoring patient progress.

Requirements:

Direct Patient Support

• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Provide hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding while maintaining the patient’s dignity.

• Mobility Assistance: Safely assist patients with movement, transfers, and early ambulation as directed by the clinical team.

• Patient Comfort: Ensure patients are comfortable, properly positioned, and have all necessary items within reach to aid their recovery.

Clinical Assistance & Monitoring

• Vigilant Observation: Monitor patients closely for any physical or emotional changes and report any concerns regarding pain levels or wound appearance to the nursing staff immediately.

• Hygiene & Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a sterile and safe recovery environment.

• Room Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of recovery rooms and shared patient areas.

Communication & Reporting

• Team Collaboration: Support the nursing and medical staff with routine monitoring tasks and data entry of patient activity.

• Professional Interaction: Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and their families, providing reassurance and basic information about daily care routines.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience & Background

• Seniority: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in caregiving, hospital assistance, or a dedicated post-operative care environment.

• Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of hygiene standards and infection control within a healthcare setting.

Core Competencies

• Physical Stamina: Ability to assist with patient lifting and mobility, and the capacity to remain active throughout a full shift.

• Communication: Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with the medical team and patients.

• Soft Skills: Exceptional patience, compassion, and a professional demeanor are mandatory.
