Job Description:
Médecins du Monde is seeking a high-level Logistics and Supply Manager for this newly created, high-impact role. You will be tasked with the critical challenge of establishing a robust supply chain framework from the ground up. This involves identifying and cultivating strategic supplier relationships capable of delivering life-saving supplies to both Abuja and volatile field bases in the North-East and North-West. You will ensure that all operations are conducted with maximum cost-efficiency while maintaining 100% compliance with MdM and international donor procedures.
Requirements:
Supply Chain & Procurement Strategy
Framework Agreements: Implement and manage commercial framework agreements, ensuring timely renewals and best-value-for-money.
Complex Distribution: Supervise the dispatch of goods from coordination centers to field bases, covering order tracking, secure packaging, and claims resolution.
Regulatory Navigation: Maintain a clear understanding of Nigerian Customs, IDEC, and NAFDAC procedures to ensure a seamless international-to-local supply chain.
Cost Optimization: Utilize budget tracking tools to optimize procurement spend and support sound financial planning.
Logistics & Asset Monitoring
Fleet Management: Oversee the vehicle fleet, including weekly movement planning, maintenance schedules, and fuel management.
Stock & Inventory: Manage the flow and storage of goods, maintaining up-to-date inventories of stock and equipment at the coordination level.
Facility Oversight: Ensure that offices and staff accommodations are equipped with essential facilities and maintained under optimal security conditions.
Human Resources & Team Leadership
Supervision: Lead and recruit staff under your responsibility at the coordination level, ensuring regular performance evaluations and technical briefings.
Capacity Building: Ensure all team members understand MdM logistics procedures, communication protocols, and transport safety rules.
Representation: Participate in inter-NGO forums (Logistics Cluster) and represent the organization in supply chain-related coordination meetings.
Reporting & Compliance
Audit Readiness: Ensure all purchases strictly follow MdM’s procurement policy and the specific requirements of donors such as ECHO, GFFO, BHA, and CDCS.
Monthly Reporting: Submit comprehensive logistics reports (Pack Log) and contribute to strategic thinking on cross-cutting procurement issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Background
Degree: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (BAC+3) in Logistics Management, Procurement, or a related field; a Master’s degree (BAC+5) is highly desirable.
Seniority: At least 3 years of experience in a technical logistics role, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in supply chain/procurement management.
Technical Skills
Humanitarian Expertise: Prior experience in humanitarian logistics and knowledge of institutional donor procedures (ECHO, USAID/BHA, etc.) is a significant advantage.
Regulatory Fluency: Understanding of Nigerian government import/customs procedures (NAFDAC, IDEC).
Language: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hausa is a distinct advantage for field-level coordination.

Leadership: Ability to assert authority, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and manage stress in complex environments.
Negotiation: Excellent diplomacy and negotiation skills for building strategic supplier relationships.
Autonomy: A strong sense of responsibility and the initiative to resolve supply chain bottlenecks independently.
