Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified, detail-oriented, and proactive Legal Officer to manage the legal operations and safeguard the business interests of A-Star and Beifa Africa. You will serve as the primary legal advisor for our Ogun State office, ensuring that our manufacturing and distribution activities remain compliant, efficient, and legally protected. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can balance commercial objectives with rigorous regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
Contract Management: Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
Corporate Compliance: Ensure our operations strictly adhere to Nigerian corporate laws, industry-specific regulations, and all statutory filing requirements.
Advisory Support: Provide timely, sound legal counsel on day-to-day business operations, corporate governance, and complex transactions.
Dispute Resolution: Proactively manage legal disputes and effectively coordinate with external counsel for litigation or specialized representation when needed.
Secretarial Duties: Maintain precise corporate records, manage regulatory filings, and provide administrative support for board meetings and secretariat functions.
Risk Mitigation: Identify potential legal and operational risks across business units and implement robust measures to protect the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a successful Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L.).
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of post-call experience in corporate law, commercial litigation, or a dedicated in-house legal department.
Core Competencies:
Drafting & Analysis: Exceptional skill in legal drafting and contract negotiation.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to assess risks and interpret commercial regulations.
Proactivity: Ability to anticipate legal issues before they escalate.
Location: Candidates must be residing in or willing to work in Ogun State.
