Job Description:

We are seeking a high-integrity Internal Control Officer to monitor, evaluate, and enhance the effectiveness of our bank’s internal control environment. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all branch operations and business units function with absolute transparency and efficiency. You will act as a safeguard against operational lapses, ensuring every transaction adheres to internal policies, regulatory mandates, and Sharia-compliant processes.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong ethical foundation, exceptional analytical skills, and a meticulous approach to transaction monitoring in a structured financial environment.

Requirements:

Operational Oversight & Compliance

• Periodic Reviews: Conduct structured internal control reviews across various branches and business units to verify operational integrity.

• Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all activities strictly comply with banking regulations, internal policies, and Sharia-compliant financial standards.

• Transaction Monitoring: Perform regular spot checks, monitor real-time transactions, and generate exception reports to flag anomalies.

Risk Identification & Remediation

• Gap Analysis: Proactively identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and operational inefficiencies that could lead to financial or reputational risk.

• Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive internal control reports for management, detailing findings and offering actionable recommendations.

• Follow-up: Track the implementation of remediation plans and escalate any unresolved control issues to senior leadership.

Ethical Governance

• Internal Standards: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professional ethics while handling sensitive financial data.

• Collaborative Support: Work independently on reviews while collaborating with branch managers to strengthen the overall control culture.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Minimum of an HND or BSc in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.

• Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong foundational understanding of audit, accounting, and internal control principles.

  • Familiarity with Islamic banking principles (Sharia-compliance) is a distinct advantage.

• Skills:

  • Analytical Prowess: Ability to solve complex problems and identify subtle patterns in transaction data.

  • MS Office Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

  • Communication: Elite written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
