Job Description:
We are seeking a highly disciplined and experienced Internal Control Manager to oversee the integrity of our operational and inventory processes. In this role, you will act as an independent appraiser of the company’s internal safeguards, with a specific focus on the end-to-end supply chain from procurement and production to loading and exit gates. You will lead a team dedicated to eliminating leakages, ensuring policy compliance, and providing management with the objective data needed to protect company assets.
The ideal candidate is a chartered professional with a deep-seated background in high-volume manufacturing environments and a zero-tolerance approach to procedural non-compliance.
Requirements:
Strategic Oversight & Leadership
Operational Planning: Plan, organize, and supervise comprehensive inventory control operations, providing rigorous quality assurance on all work executed by the control team.
Policy Governance: Provide leadership in communicating and monitoring inventory control policies, ensuring every department adheres to the frameworks laid down by management.
Team Management: Oversee administrative tasks including staff allocation to duty posts, overtime approvals, and the continuous dissemination of critical operational information to the team.
Process Monitoring & Compliance
Supply Chain Audit: Independently appraise controls within stores, procurement, production, loading, and packing areas to ensure a seamless and secure flow of materials.
Checkpoint Verification: Conduct strict compliance checks at critical operational hubs, including entry gates, weighbridges, loading bays, and exit gates.
Material Validation: Ensure all materials received by the company follow established procedures and meet the required quality and quantity standards.
Reporting & Reconciliation
Variance Analysis: Perform weekly reconciliations of all material movements, providing detailed reports on shortages, wastages, or unauthorized diversions.
Inventory Counting: Prepare and circulate the monthly inventory count schedule and lead the physical verification of stock.
Control Recommendations: Identify deficiencies in current control frameworks and proactively recommend enhancements to senior management to mitigate future risks.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: HND or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Certification: Mandatory professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, or a recognized equivalent).
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in internal control, audit, or inventory management.
Proven track record in a structured, fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environment is highly required.
Technical Competencies:
Framework Mastery: Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks and compliance procedures.
Financial Rigor: High proficiency in financial analysis, reconciliation, and complex variance investigation.
Audit Capability: Advanced ability to conduct independent control reviews across diverse operational departments.
Key Attributes: Strong leadership presence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain objectivity under operational pressure.
