Job Description:
We are looking for a vigilant and results-driven HSE Officer to champion safety and environmental compliance within our manufacturing operations. This role is fundamental to protecting our workforce and maintaining our operational integrity. You will be the primary advocate for a "Safety-First" culture, ensuring that every process, from the warehouse floor to administrative offices, meets the highest statutory and company safety standards.
Requirements:
Risk Mitigation & Audit: Conduct rigorous safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits across the facility. You will identify hazards before they lead to incidents and track corrective actions to ensure total compliance.
Incident Investigation: Serve as the lead investigator for accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. You will produce detailed analytical reports and implement preventive measures to eliminate recurring risks.
Safety Training & Culture: Coordinate and deliver induction programs, toolbox talks, and emergency drills. Your goal is to foster a proactive culture where employees at all levels take ownership of their safety and the safety of their colleagues.
Regulatory Liaison: Act as our primary point of contact for government agencies and external auditors. You will ensure we are always audit-ready and compliant with local factory safety standards and environmental regulations.
Emergency Preparedness: Oversee fire safety systems, first aid readiness, and evacuation plans to ensure that the facility is prepared for any contingency.
Environmental Stewardship: Manage hazardous material handling, pollution prevention, and waste disposal protocols to minimize our environmental footprint.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Minimum of HND/B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct HSE experience within a manufacturing environment.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong grasp of Nigerian HSE regulations, factory safety standards, and environmental compliance.
Demonstrated ability to perform hazard identification and root-cause incident investigations.
Certifications (Preferred): ISPON, HSE Level 1–3, First Aid, and Fire Safety training.
Added Advantages: International certifications such as NEBOSH (IGC), IOSH (Managing Safely), OSHA, or ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 internal auditor certification.
Competencies:
Analytical Rigor: Ability to prepare comprehensive safety reports and documentation.
Communication: Exceptional training delivery and interpersonal skills to engage staff at all levels.
Accountability: Unwavering integrity and the ability to work independently to enforce safety protocols even under operational pressure.
