Job Description:

• Advisory Services: Acts as technical expert for the Project Managers and aim to create an enabling environment (by sharing knowledge, understanding stakeholders and environment) for the implementation of a project, for the project to meet its objectives. Ensures, monitors progress and reviews quality of own expertise and ensures client support and satisfaction during projects.
• Project and process development: Identifies and proposes technical process improvements to the project team. Acts on improvement areas within the local internal organisation and processes and gives feedback. Ensures lessons learned are applied in daily practice.
• Positioning: Identifies and analyses market opportunities and threats and ensures relevant colleagues are informed. Actively participates in strategic positioning meetings and acts as a knowledgeable face of the SNV organisation to the client. Analyses, understands and develops (local) networks with relevant stakeholders, identifies new clients.
• Business development: Builds and maintains effective relationships with the team, external partners and the donor(s) by ensuring a high level of SNV visibility and branding. Signals and acts on potential for positioning, innovation, upscaling and potential follow up on projects. Timely recognizes and analyses threats and makes sure relevant colleagues are informed.
• Analysis & Reporting: Ensures collection, consolidation and review of project information, according to SNV’s monitoring and evaluation guidelines. Analyses and provides advice to management how to incorporate the new insights/best practices into the organization’s policies and practices.
• Knowledge Development: Contributes to internal and external knowledge development, by full documentation and sharing of project insights and results. Develops knowledge by attending workshops and conferences. Ensures lessons learned are shared and applied in daily practice. When applicable can be appointed as (national) focal point of an expertise network.

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Management, Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
• 5-7 years of substantial experience in development work, with demonstrated experience in solar energy, biodigesters, clean cooking solutions, and related technologies, and a strong focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy.
• Relevant technical expertise and a strong understanding of the energy sector, including considerable experience in energy service delivery and, preferably, market development for renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and appraising business cases; understanding energy market systems development; introducing energy technologies; and engaging with the private sector, particularly in Nigeria and West Africa.
• Experience conceptualising or contributing energy intervention projects and managing stakeholders convening and capacity building
• Strong communication skills (both Oral and written)
• Ability to lead and steer initiatives with an entrepreneurial mindset.
