Job Description:
We are seeking a highly competent Deputy Safety Manager to support the Safety Manager in the implementation and continuous improvement of our Safety Management Systems. This role is pivotal in maintaining a zero-harm environment across our terminal operations. You will act as a critical bridge between the safety team, operational staff, and contractors, ensuring that day-to-day activities align with international HSE standards and local regulations.
The ideal candidate is a proactive safety leader with deep experience in high-risk industrial environments and a proven ability to influence safety culture at every level of the organization.
Requirements:
Policy Implementation & Risk Management
Enforcement: Assist in enforcing compliance with terminal safety policies, procedures, and statutory safety regulations.
Hazard Control: Support the coordination of Hazard Identification, Risk Assessments (HIRA), and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, conducting root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are fully implemented.
Asset Safety: Monitor the availability and condition of emergency equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Inspections, Audits & Compliance
Site Oversight: Conduct routine and ad-hoc safety inspections of terminal equipment, operations, and work environments.
Audit Support: Participate in internal and external audits (e.g., ISO 45001), tracking and supporting the timely closure of corrective actions.
Contractor Safety: Review contractor safety plans and permits-to-work, ensuring all third parties adhere to the organization’s high safety standards.
Training & Culture Promotion
Safety Awareness: Support the delivery of safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training for both staff and contractors.
Emergency Readiness: Participate in the development of emergency response plans and coordinate regular drills to ensure team readiness.
Engagement: Facilitate weekly HSE engagement meetings and drive safety campaigns to promote a robust safety culture.
Monitoring & Reporting
Performance Tracking: Prepare incident summaries, safety performance reports, and KPI dashboards for management review.
Documentation: Maintain up-to-date training records, incident registers, and audit-ready compliance documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: * Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
Certifications (Required): * NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is mandatory.
Certifications (Preferred): * ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, HSE Level 1-3, or equivalent.
Membership in professional bodies such as ISPON or IOSH.
Experience: * 5–7 years of HSE experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Prior experience in ports, terminals, logistics, oil & gas, or manufacturing is highly desirable.
