Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator to manage, optimize, secure, and maintain the organization’s database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure high database availability, performance optimization, data security, backup management, and disaster recovery while supporting business continuity and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• System Management: Manage and maintain relational and non-relational databases for optimal performance and reliability.

• Health & Performance: Monitor database health and proactively resolve performance issues and downtime risks.

• Security: Implement database security measures including encryption, access control, and compliance protocols.

• Data Protection: Develop and manage backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Optimization: Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and capacity planning.

• Migrations: Lead database upgrades, migrations, and deployments with minimal disruption.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate database documentation and change management records.

• Collaboration: Collaborate with developers and technical teams to support business and operational needs.

• Support: Troubleshoot database incidents and provide technical support to users and internal teams.

• Standards: Ensure database uptime, integrity, scalability, and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience: 5–7 years of experience in Database Administration.

• Technical Skills: Strong experience with SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database scripting languages.

• Core Competencies: Proven expertise in database performance tuning, backup/recovery, clustering, and replication.

• Database Management: Experience managing large-scale relational and non-relational databases.

• Compliance: Knowledge of database security, compliance, and access management.

• Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud database platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is an added advantage.

• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, MCDBA, or AWS Database Speciality are highly preferred.

• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
