Job Description:

We are seeking a high-velocity and analytically elite Customs Specialist to anchor the importation engine of our Nigerian operations. In the specialized landscape of West African trade, success is defined by "Trade Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize global procurement with the clinical precision required for End-to-End Clearance, Demurrage Mitigation, and Multi-Agency Compliance (SON, NAFDAC, NEPC). This role is designed for an "Import Architect" with 5+ years of experience who can blend "Logistical Grit" (managing shipping lines and terminals) with the "Strategic Agility" required to drive digitalization and automation within a matrix organization.

Requirements:

1. Interface Orchestration & Regulatory Governance

  • Compliance Sovereignty: Ensure the timely renewal and availability of all critical import permits (SON, NAFDAC, etc.), acting as the primary "Source of Statutory Integrity."

  • Permit Architecture: Manage relationships with regulatory bodies and shipping terminals, providing the "Structural Foundation" for seamless port-to-warehouse transitions.

  • Stakeholder Stewardship: Act as the clinical point of contact for all importation activities, ensuring the "Source of Cross-Functional Alignment" is elite and uncompromised.

2. Tactical Resilience & Clearing Logic

  • Clearance Sovereignty: Manage end-to-end importation processes to ensure timely delivery, acting as the primary "Source of Lead-Time Optimization."

  • Fiscal Architecture: Analyze clearing efficiency KPIs and manage demurrage costs aggressively, providing the "Analytical Foundation" for total-cost-of-ownership reduction.

  • Tracking Stewardship: Maintain high-fidelity shipment tracking systems and provide real-time updates, maintaining the "Source of Supply Chain Visibility."

3. Operational Integrity & Digital Power

  • Process Sovereignty: Identify and implement process improvement opportunities in import operations, acting as the primary "Source of Operational Excellence."

  • Digital Architecture: Drive the automation and digitalization of import processes within SAP, providing the "Visual Foundation" for modern trade management.

  • Velocity Logic: Utilize 5+ years of supply chain expertise to resolve complex escalations and refund processes, maximizing the "Source of Procurement Throughput."

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in Import/Export, Procurement, or Supply Chain operations.

  • Education: University Degree in Business Admin, Finance, Logistics, Engineering, or Law (Master’s/MBA preferred).

  • Tech Mastery: Strong experience with SAP or similar ERP systems (Purchasing/MM focus).

  • Certification: Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS) is highly preferred.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Grit: Ability to interpret complex trade data and manage reconciliation/refund workflows.

  • Operational Sovereignty: Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills within a matrix organization.

  • Global Power: Fluency in English and experience in cross-cultural, international trade environments.
