Job Description:
The Chief Operating Officer acts as the CEO’s right hand, responsible for taking the company's strategy from vision to reality. You will lead strategic planning, own the delivery of operational programs, and provide direct oversight of Human Resources and Finance as the key enablers of sustainable, scalable growth. You will align people, processes, and performance across every function of the business to build the organization from its pre-seed foundations into a nationally recognized charging network. Requirements:
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO to drive organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring plans. Lead strategic planning cycles (annual operations planning, OKR-setting, and performance management).
Operations & Execution: Translate company strategy into actionable quarterly plans with clear milestones and accountability. Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure delivery against Phase 1 targets (stations live, host agreements signed, revenue generation).
HR & Finance Oversight: Provide direct oversight of HR (recruitment, onboarding, development, retention) and Finance (budgeting, monthly accounts, cost control, payroll, and investor reporting).
Performance Monitoring: Use tracking tools and dashboards to monitor organizational performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
Culture & Compliance: Build an inclusive, high-performance culture. Ensure compliance with Nigerian business regulations, including CAMA 2020 and the Electricity Act 2023.
Financial Management: Manage capital investments and operating expenses to meet investor targets.
Representation: Serve as acting CEO when required and represent the company in senior stakeholder, investor, and regulatory engagements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: 7+ years in operational leadership, with at least 3 years in a senior management or C-suite role.
Strategic Planning: Proven ability to translate strategy into actionable quarterly/annual plans.
Functional Expertise: Direct experience overseeing HR and Finance (hiring, payroll, budgeting, management accounts).
Data Literacy: Strong ability to design KPIs, read performance dashboards, and make evidence-based decisions.
Leadership: Track record of building high-performing, inclusive teams in fast-paced startup or growth environments.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; credible representative to investors and regulators.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent strongly preferred.
Industry Advantage: Background in infrastructure, clean energy, mobility, or technology is a strong advantage.
