Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Business Development Manager to lead revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and market expansion for the Payfor Power product portfolio. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for navigating the complex energy landscape in Nigeria, identifying high-value opportunities in mini-grids, solar hybrid systems, and smart metering. You will act as a bridge between technical innovation and market needs, building influential relationships with government agencies, utilities, and major commercial players.
The ideal candidate is a strategic hunter with a deep understanding of the energy sector and a proven track record of closing large-scale B2B and B2G (Business-to-Government) contracts.
Requirements:
Business Development & Strategic Sales
Market Opportunity: Identify and develop new business leads for Payfor Power solutions across residential, commercial, industrial, and utility sectors.
Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, driving growth to consistently achieve and exceed revenue targets.
Tender & Proposals: Lead the development of high-impact proposals, comprehensive tender submissions, and complex contract negotiations.
Market Intelligence: Conduct continuous competitor analysis and market intelligence to sharpen product positioning and pricing strategies.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Key Accounts: Manage and nurture high-level relationships with Distribution Companies (DisCos), government agencies, and real estate developers.
Client Diversity: Engage with commercial and industrial customers, telecom operators, and EPC contractors to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.
Industry Representation: Represent the company at major industry exhibitions, stakeholder meetings, and energy summits.
Market Expansion & Project Identification
Strategic Partnerships: Develop alliances with financiers, energy investors, OEMs, and project developers to facilitate large-scale energy projects.
Innovation Focus: Identify and pursue opportunities for mini-grid, embedded generation, solar hybrid, and smart metering initiatives.
Geographic Growth: Lead the strategy for entering new geographic markets and sector niches within the Nigerian power landscape.
Product Strategy & Compliance
Technical Synergy: Collaborate with operations and technical teams to ensure our energy solutions are perfectly aligned with specific customer requirements.
Reporting: Prepare detailed business cases, sales forecasts, and performance reports for executive management review.
Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to company policies and industry-specific energy regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. An MBA is an added advantage.
Industry Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in Business Development or Sales specifically within the Energy, Power, or Utilities sector.
Project Exposure: Proven experience with solar projects, smart metering, or independent power projects (IPPs).
Core Competencies
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop sophisticated go-to-market strategies for technical products.
Negotiation: Mastery of long-cycle B2B sales and high-stakes contract negotiations.
Communication: Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to engage senior government and corporate executives.
