Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Entry-Level Bookkeeper to support the finance team across our integrated hospitality operations. This role offers an exceptional foundation for a career in hospitality finance, providing hands-on exposure to accounting for four distinct business units: a Hotel, Lounge, Restaurant, and Event Centre.
You will be the engine of our daily financial tracking, ensuring that multi-revenue streams are accurately recorded and reconciled in a fast-paced, high-integrity environment.
Requirements:
Daily Financial Operations
Revenue Reconciliation: Record and reconcile daily sales figures from the hotel, lounge, restaurant, and event centre. You will match POS terminal reports with bank settlements to ensure 100% accuracy.
General Ledger Management: Post journal entries and maintain the general ledger while managing petty cash disbursements and replenishment requests.
Ledger Accuracy: Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for all financial documents, vouchers, and receipts.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Procurement Tracking: Track and file supplier invoices for food & beverage, housekeeping, and event-specific procurement.
Billing Management: Manage corporate billing records and follow up on outstanding guest invoices.
Event Finance: Assist with event deposit processing, payment collections, and post-event financial reconciliations.
Inventory & Cost Control
Stock Oversight: Assist with periodic physical stock counts for the restaurant, bar, and housekeeping stores.
Discrepancy Auditing: Record inventory receipts against purchase orders and immediately flag discrepancies in food & beverage cost reports to the Finance Manager.
Profitability Support: Contribute to event costing exercises and post-event profitability reviews to optimize margins.
Reporting & Compliance
Unit Summaries: Prepare weekly expense summaries for each of the four business units.
Month-End Support: Assist in month-end close activities, trial balance preparation, and account reconciliations.
Tax Compliance: Support the preparation of VAT and WHT schedules as directed by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: OND, HND, or BSc in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
0–2 years of experience (NYSC experience is highly valued).
Student membership of ICAN or ACCA is a significant advantage.
Prior exposure to hospitality or retail environments is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas and pivot tables).
Familiarity with accounting software like Sage or QuickBooks is a plus.
