Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Accountant to lead our financial operations and cost governance. In the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, precision in manufacturing accounting and statutory compliance is the bedrock of business scaling.

In this role, you will be the primary custodian of our financial integrity. You will oversee the entire accounting lifecycle—from General Ledger management and Cost Variance Analysis to high-level Statutory Tax Compliance. This is a leadership position designed for an analytical, integrity-driven professional with 4–6 years of experience who can translate complex production data into actionable management reports.

Requirements:

1. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting Excellence

• Production Cost Governance: Monitor and analyze production overheads, standard costs, and cost allocations to identify inefficiencies in the manufacturing process.

• Inventory Valuation: Work cross-functionally with Warehouse and Production teams to ensure the accurate valuation of Raw Materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and Finished Goods.

• Variance Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analyses into the gaps between actual and standard costs, providing management with data-backed cost-control recommendations.

2. Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management

• Financial Orchestration: Lead the accurate posting, reconciliation, and closure of monthly and annual accounts, ensuring all reports meet Nigerian accounting standards.

• Management Intelligence: Prepare and review monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts to support strategic working capital decisions.

• Audit Leadership: Coordinate both internal and external audit processes, ensuring all financial records are audit-ready and compliant.

3. Taxation, Compliance & Risk Control

• Statutory Rigor: Manage the timely preparation, filing, and remittance of VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory returns to FIRS and State IRS.

• Internal Controls: Strengthen the internal control environment to mitigate financial risks and eliminate process inefficiencies.

• Team Supervision: Lead and mentor a team of Junior Accountants, reviewing work outputs for accuracy and fostering a culture of continuous professional development.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience: 4–6 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role, preferably within an FMCG manufacturing environment.

• Professional Credentials: Professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA) is a significant advantage.

• Regulatory IQ: Deep knowledge of Nigerian Tax Laws and manufacturing-specific accounting practices.

Core Competencies

• Technical Mastery: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP, or QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel.

• Leadership Grit: Proven ability to supervise a team and work effectively under the pressures of a performance-driven environment.

• Analytical Precision: Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in cost accounting and inventory management.
