Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, MoUs, and legal documents.
  • Provide legal advisory services to management and internal departments.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct legal research on regulations, case law, and emerging legal issues.
  • Prepare legal opinions, briefs, and internal reports.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, regulatory engagements, and legal proceedings.
  • Manage disputes, litigation, and mediation in collaboration with external counsel.
  • Support policy development and compliance initiatives.

 

Key Functional Area

Contract & Document Management:

  • Draft and review agreements to ensure legal adequacy.
  • Maintain a centralized repository for all legal documents.

 

Compliance & Regulatory Support:

  • Monitor regulatory updates affecting the organization.
  • Support internal audits and compliance reviews.
  • Prepare statutory filings and ensure timely submission.

 

Corporate Governance:

  • Support governance functions, including board documentation.
  • Assist with meeting minutes, board papers, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure proper corporate documentation.

 

Litigation & Dispute Resolution:

  • Manage and track legal cases.
  • Prepare briefs, affidavits, and supporting documents.
  • Liaise with external counsel and provide litigation updates.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect privileged information.
  • Provide legal updates and training to staff.
  • Maintain organized legal files and records.
  • Support enterprise risk management and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, partners, and external law firms.

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and contract law.
  • Legal drafting, research, and analytical proficiency.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks and governance practices.

  • Ability to interpret complex laws and regulations.
  • Strong risk assessment and problem-solving capabilities.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • LL.B from a recognized university.
  • BL (Call to Bar) – Mandatory.
  • LL.M is an added advantage.
  • Certifications in Corporate Law, Compliance, Contract Management, or Governance are a plus.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in corporate/commercial law or legal practice.
  • Experience with drafting legal documents, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability in litigation management and stakeholder engagement.
